Author's Review
I got this game because I got the first one which was pretty good, but its not great either. I also bought it because i am a hardcore gundam fan and I thought Gundam Battle Assault 2 would have many more improvements from its original, but I was wrong. Theres not much improvements except more playable gundams, different modes, and a very small improvement on the animation. Overall its the exact same as the first just more gundams to battle with.
The Game:
Well the game is basically the same as the first, but some added modes such as Street Mode which is like a story but you just battle through your way to get the ending and also unlock more gundams. They have Time Attack A&B and the differences between them is A is a longer time and B is a shorter time. The last mode is Survival where you just keep on fighting until your life meter is zero. One player modes gets pretty boring easily so i recommend playing two-player mode instead. The Gundams range from all the different shows and some of the gundams from the first are back except for two which is the The-O, and Z Gundam. There is a total of 30 playable gundams. They also have all the characters from Gundam Wing. The new Gundams in the Game are Burning Gundam, Gundam Maxter, Gundam RX-78, Bolt Gundam, Gundam Rose, V Gundam, Dragon Gundam, Master Gundam, Psycho Gundam, many more.
The Graphics:
The graphics have gotten a little better. The backgrounds got more clearer and the gundams gotten more smooth and very detailed. The special attacks are pretty cool because in the street mode they show the pilot and they shout out their special attack. All in all nothing really changed in the graphics. The gundam also gets damage when you hit them which is pretty cool.
The Sound:
The sounds are better than the first Battle Assault. The voices of the pilots sound the same as in the shows, but some of the voices can't really be heard so its not clear unless you raise the volume a notch or two. The sounds of the beam sabers clashing, the bullets firing, and the BGM music playing...totals up into havoc which is difficult to listen to the pilots' voices.
The Controls:
The controls did not change at all from the first. So if you played the original one you won't be having problems when you play. The controls are pretty simple nothing to complex. So if its the first time playing this game your be an ace pilot in no time.
Overall:
The game is good especially with the 30+ playable gundams. Street Mode is interesting but its the same as versus mode just without the talking and the story. The time attack modes and the survival mode gets really boring and its very easy to beat on normal. They need to put more of improvements and not just add more gundams. They need to put 4-player mode that would really be cool.
