Works great, but kind of loud

I have some fairly severe allergies and after enough misrable days of being able to breathe through one nostril, I decided to get an air purifier. I used a pair of cheap Hunter models (i forget which) that only had a CADR rating of 100, which WORKED, but i felt like i wasn't quite getting what i needed.

I decided on the Honeywell 50250 because of the much higher CADR rating. The difference was astounding. I could breathe much easier at night. For the price i paid through amazon (will be ~$110 after rebates), the quality cannot be beat. It is relatively inexpensive to run as well. I got one of the newer models with the 'permanent' filters that allow you to vacuum it clean. While I'm somewhat skeptical about using it after too many cleanings, it is a nice option to keep the expenses down, as the filters do get quite expensive. The noise, to me, is actually tolerable. I like having white noise on when i'm trying to sleep, but it may be unbearable to some. I usually crank it on to high when i leave the apartment--it is VERY loud and quite unbearable at that level when occupied.

All in all, it's a GREAT buy for a budget model air purifier.
