STAY AWAY

I bought this humidifier because of the PermaWick feature - the idea of buying 2 or 3 filters each season does not appeal to me.

The procedure for setting up the humidifier once I got it home was needlessly complex. There is an assembly of the filters and drip trays inside that needed to be put together. The instruction booklet didn't help.

Once it was assembled I filled it with water. I found another problem - the base of the humidifier fills with water but isn't sealed, so any slight bump causes the water to slosh around and out of the humidifier. Want to move it? You should first drain it. I don't know how you are supposed to drain the base before moving it unless you you always run it directly from the sink.

So, after getting it assembled and filled I thought, "Finally! Let's try this thing out." I turned the switch to HIGH per the instruction manual. WOW IS THIS NOISY! HEY, CAN YOU HEAR ME OVER THERE? Forget about having this in the same room that you are sleeping in. Or the next room. Even on low it is loud.

Well, lots of noise would be OK if lots of moisture came with it. Unfortunately I didn't measure ANY humidity increase with my digital thermometer/humidity meter. I thought it was the size of my room, so I tried a smaller room, still no effect. The tank level would go down, but the humidity woudn't really go up.

I haven't had it long enough to tell how it is on maintenance, and I don't plan to keep it any longer. It's going back to the store.
