Avoid

Date of Review: Feb 20, 2005

Purchased online because of the Kelty name. Have had a Kelty backpack for 20 years now so felt this would be a safe bet.

Basic and HUGE problem: The waistbelt attaches to the frame via a strange all-in-one-connected arrangement; first connecting to the back webbing then to the shoulder straps then to the frame's top bar. The result being a LARGE portion of the weight that should be carried ALL by the waist belt is carried on your shoulders.

Key to a good pack (baby or camping, does not matter which) is INDEPENDENT adjustment of Shoulder Straps, Back Support, and Waist Belt. This pack combines all; obviously done for cheap cost of manufacture.

Strongly suggest avoiding this back-breaker, but if you must, purchase only with an no-questions-asked iron-clad store return policy.
