My Son Loves It

The Bottom Line: My son loves this bed, easy to assemble, sturdy.
We ordered this bed for my son who was just about to turn 2. He loves all trucks, but especially fire trucks. I had it shipped to my work, and when I brought it home, he started jumping up and down and clapping his hands. He even dragged me to the kitchen and pointed to the cabinet that had the scissors so that we could open the box.
The only tough part of assembly was letting him help me put it together, he wanted it now. The entire bed is constructed of what appears to be particle board. Instructions are typical instructions, make sure you lay all of the pieces out before you start. The bolts are color coded which makes it easier to figure out what goes where. Assembly took less then 30 minutes.
Once assembled, it is very strong, they have provided adequate cross members underneath the platform. My wife has laid in bed with my son to get him to go to sleep without any shakiness or weakness to the bed.
This bed uses a standard crib mattress, the bed itself is about a foot longer than the mattress, doesn't take up any more room than the crib you are probably replacing. The front of the truck (underneath the "lightbar") is a little shelf which we used to put a few stuffed animals on.
Overall, my son loves this bed. The low height makes it easy for him to get into and out of. The ladder rails keep him from rolling out of bed in the middle of the night.
