GREAT for cookies!
Date of Review: Jul 21, 2008
The Bottom Line: This is the last mixer I'll probably buy. It has all the features I needed, and it's designed to last.
I LOVE to make and eat cookies and as a result have burned out MANY mixer motors. From vintage Osters to brand new name brands, this KitchenAid is the only one that CANNOT BE KILLED! (And I've tried!) It is also the best mixer I have used for easy jobs like beating egg whites into fast and fluffy merangues.
Because of its heavy-duty motor, this is NOT a lightweight mixer capable of being toted around as needed. It will need a home on your countertop (or under it on a mixer shelf) as it is HEAVY! Once you use it though and find it accessible, you'll be using it for everything.
It will take up lots of room on your countertop, but the bowl capacity is great for multiple batches, because if you're going to make cookies, you have to share. I've thrown the stainless steel bowl in the dishwasher many times with no problems: it still looks brand new.
The only caution I have for you is to begin on the lowest setting when mixing in dry ingredients because the powerful motor will puff flour all over the kitchen cabinets. (The slow start feature isn't all it's cracked up to be).
It also has lots of optional attachments to order from KitchenAid. I LOVE the pasta maker and the grinder.
