A good coffee maker, but flawed
Pros:
Makes very good coffee.
Cons:
Grounds can block the system, apparently needs a nonstandard size filter.

The AromaControl makes very good coffee; we use Peet's, and the best grind for this maker seems to be their no. 6 (for reference, the "Melita"-style grind is no. 5). However, as pkeppler notes, sometimes the much of the coffee stays in the filter basket. This is because coffee grounds get inside the flow mechanism leading down to the carafe. Although Krups says to use no. 4 cone filters, what they really need is a no. 5 filter (which of course does not exist); perhaps Krups' own brand of filters (not obtainable except by order from Krups) are slightly different in size. I'm currently experimenting with blowing out the grit from the system by using a little compressed-air cleaner (for computers, from an office supply store) and cutting down no. 6 filters. However, all these heroics should not be necessary. So ... when it works, it's very, very good, but when it's bad ...
By the way, the carafe does keep coffee hot, but only if you remove it from the maker.
