A couple of months ago, I went to my Verizon Wireless store to pick out my new cellphone, and instantly the LG Venus caught my eye. It is a very fashionable phone, very appropriate for teenagers. I instantly fell in love and knew that this would be the phone that I would get.
Details...
The Look: I got this phone in black and pink. The back of this phone and the keypad are pink, while the screen is black. You can also purchase the phone in all black. The back of the phone has a fake leathery look to it, and if you drop your phone, the scratches on the back would not be very noticeable. However, a portion of the phone is made of a plastic material, and that scratches very easily. (I know from experience!) I would recommend getting a case to go with this phone.
The overall impression that people get from this phone that it is very very stylish! It is a sliding phone with a touchpad screen and is far from your usual flip phone.
Battery Life: This is one of the weaker points of the phone. The battery life is said to last for only 4 hours of talk time and 480 hours of standby time. This is something to consider if you are planning to use this as a work phone.
Features:
The touchpad screen is great at first, and fun to play around with. However, sometimes I find myself impatient at the time it takes to respond. It has about a second of lagging time.
The phone can also be used as a music player, but you can only store about 15 songs with the phone's built-in memory. You can always buy external memory if you want.
As usual, with Verizon Wireless customers, there is VCast Music, Get It Now, Mobile Web 2.0. Keep in mind there are extra charges that go along with these programs.
The LG Venus is capable of text messaging, but it just has a regular keypad. If you are a very heavy text messenger, you probably will want to get a different type of phone.
The camera on the phone lags a bit as well, but it takes fairly decent pictures and videos. You can never expect too much with cell phone cameras.
Quality:
To be very honest, the phone's quality disappointed me a bit. The sound quality is mediocre which makes calls in loud places extremely difficult. Also the phone can be easily damaged, so I have to always keep it in a case just to be safe.
Overall...
This is a very stylish phone that any teenager could fall in love with. I would recommend it if you were to use it for simple tasks... but not for activities such as heavy text messaging or work.
