Product Review

Poor Quality of Lakewood Quartz Heater

by   gmsmith ,   Nov 25, 2003

Pros:  Tall, attractive case. Heats rapidly and heats well. 2 heat settings. Affordable price

Cons:  Poorly made, very noisy operation. Unnecessary pilot light is always on when plugged in.

The Bottom Line:  I would not recommend this product until the quality is improved.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I purchased a Lakewood Quartz space heater, model QTV-22, from WalMart and found when I got home that something was loose and moving around inside. It turned out to be one of the wire connectors that had come off. Of course, I never plugged it in. I tried to remove the bottom part of the heater with the only screw on the bottom but found that the metal was welded together and would not come open. I had taken the top part off to remove the wire connector but was unable to reattach the connector which had come from the bottom part of the heater. Also, after removing the screw, it would not screw back into hole it came out of because for some reason the hole was too big and the screw would not stay in. The next day, I exchanged the heater for a new one, this time shaking the box to make sure there was nothing loose or sliding around. This heater was extremely noisy when turned on or when coming on during the thermostat-controlled heating cycle. It rattled very loudly while the fan was running. I returned it to WalMart for a model by a different manufacturer.
