Lumpy, Lovable, LOMO

Date of Review:  Oct 5, 2000
Review: I've had a LOMO for a few months now, run about 20 rolls of film through it, and been an active participant on the http://www.lomo.org/bbs/ bulletin-board. Here's what I think of the camera.

First off, don't get sucked in by the lomo.com...

Great, simple camera for the proletariat.

Date of Review:  Jun 29, 2001
The Bottom Line: Fun, small, somewhat inexpensive, great conversation piece ("Would you like to see my Russian spy camera?").
Review: When I became interested in photography, I did what most aspiring photographers do: bought an expensive camera with manual and automatic features and learned how to take pretty pictures.

That gets boring really fast. After awhile the...

LOMO, marketed cool or real deal?

Date of Review:  Oct 5, 2000
Review: I've always had an interest in photography...but never an interest in photographers. Kinda like people who like being out on the ocean, but don't like people who own boats. I never cared much about the ultra expensive cameras with the even more...

There's something endearing about the Russian LOMO camera, READ ON:

Date of Review:  Oct 6, 2000
The Bottom Line: ~A unique and interesting looking camera can at times yield neat images.
Review: Pros: Unique, it's Russian-cool!
Cons: a lot of your shots will come out blurry.

The Lomo LC-A camera has quite a cult following. I guess you should try one out for yourself to see if you like it. I did and have not yet grown tired of...

a nice camera, but not for everyone

Date of Review:  Nov 17, 2000
The Bottom Line: Knowledge of photography and the function of a camera will allow users to get interesting/acceptable photos from this camera. Know what you are getting into.
Review: The LOMO LC-A is a good example of how hype can get out of control. I read about the LOMO in one of the many magazines that I go through at work and I admit that the flashy article about this small wonder did convince me to rush out and spend $160...

not for everyone, perfect for me

Date of Review:  May 28, 2002
The Bottom Line: Takes interesting pictures, easy to use, nice as small. Most fun you'll have with a camera.
Review: I received my lomo compakt automat for my birthday last summer after years of lusting. I saw the beautiful photographs displayed at lomography.com and wanted a part in the action.

Features about the camera that I love:

An alternative choice in photography

Date of Review:  Oct 6, 2000
Review: The camera looks different from cameras you can get in a camerashop today. The attitude of people who use this camera is even much more different of what have ordinary people with small Olympus or Canon in pocket. First it is the CULT and then it is...

Primitive manual camera

Date of Review:  Dec 10, 2000
Review: I heard many negative opinions about Russian cameras but I didn't believe them until decided to get one. This LOMO LC-A camera is a great sample of probably worst world quality. I wasted $160 and did wait a long time for delivery.
First of all,...

Fun

Date of Review:  Jun 18, 2002
The Bottom Line: A good camera to experiment with and get more out of a point and shoot. Don't get it if you don't like to take time to figure things out.
Review: I was looking for a new point and shoot camera that wouldn't cost me too much money and wasn't big as a bible. I didn't want any zoom lens and although the size of the APS cameras like Elph were appealing, their image quality left much to be...
