A Maxell slim CD case is a neccessary compliment to any self-written CD. The case has two body components, which connect on a dual hinge system, allowing the sides to be placed at a 180 degree angle opposite each other. To stay shut when closed, a system of a small bump on one plastic panel and a hole on the other is employed on the top and bottom sides of the body. On the inside of the transparent front panel are for holsters and two tiny retentative bars for holding a small piece of paper, such as one outlining a key to the contents of the CD. The back plastic panel is colored and contains a small risen plastic circle inside a larger one, for holding the actual CD. These cases are recyclable, bearing a 'triangle 6' sign.
In my experience, these cases are trustworthy, hold CDs well, and are never very expensive ( the best value lies in buying a large pack of them ). Additionally, every office store, discounter, CVS, and some grocery stores carry them.
The only problem that I have incurred with these cases is that they are rather fragile, not being albe to withstand two or three drops from a four foot height onto a laminate floor. If a case breaks by having the hinges pop out of joint, though, it is usually rather easy to repair : just pop it back into place.
If a case is stepped on , or falls for ( what may be ) the final time, and the face panel cracks, just recycle the broken one, and put the formerly enclosed disk into another case.
