Think Twice!

Our range/oven is less than a year old. I love the way it looks and the way it cooks. We chose the Bisque with Black smooth top. The top cleans up well, although even the slightest water spot from slight boil over necessitates ceramic cleaning...which can be time-consuming. The black top helps to hide stains until cleaning, which is why I originally chose that color combo. The oven Bakes very well! It is very close to convection in that cookies and other baked goods come out evenly done. Nothing gets over-cooked while other is left undercooked. And both ranks can be utilized at the same time with the same results!!

We purchased this appliance in September 2006 when remodeling our kitchen.

However, the bottom heating (bake) element went out back in June. We took out an extended warranty when we purchased, but prior to the year's anniversary, the manufacturers warranty applies. The bummer here is that only certain repair companies deal with the manufacturer. They must have to wait for their payments and have to order the parts directly from the manufacturer on an "as needed" basis. We have been without use of the oven now for a month. The Service man says that the part came in on July 19, but will be here tomorrow July 25 to install. I really expect it will be the day after or later since they weren't able to keep their original diagnosis appointment either.

So much for Maytag's commercials.....either this is a lemon or else Maytag isn't as reliable as it use to be.
