very impressive car for price

Date of Review:  Oct 16, 2002
The Bottom Line: A car highly recommended by friends. After comparison, I learned why. If it's as reliable as reputed, it would be hard to find a better value.
Review: I was looking primarily for a very reliable, long-term, everyday car to replace my Civic. The loyal Civic had replaced an antiquated and trusty Accord. Entering the car market, I consequently saw myself as a confirmed Honda owner. For my work, I've...

Worry Free Poor-man's BMW

Date of Review:  Jul 22, 2002
The Bottom Line: If the 2002 is as reliable as the 1999, you wont be disappointed if you prefer handling over ride quality.
Review: I purchased a 1999 Protege LX, right after the new (and now current) body style was released for about $13,500.00 and haven't been disappointed since. I've driven over 75,000 trouble free miles and the car still drives like new. (With new tires and...

Good economy car

Date of Review:  Oct 17, 2004
Review: I bought the 02 LX with the 0-down, 0-interest plan from Mazda. I've put 21k on it and here are my impressions:

It it the car for fun on the road!

Date of Review:  Dec 9, 2001
The Bottom Line: It is not a family car as Corolla. I think it is designed for persons who want enjoy driving on the road, and want something different from others.
Review: Feel good to be the first one to write commends on Protege 2002. First of all, it is a nice car in its price range.

I have been waiting to buy a new Protege for one year, since my home is just 5 minutes walking from my office... Two days...

Ooops, 2003 review in a 2002 slot

Date of Review:  Nov 21, 2003
The Bottom Line: An excellent car for those who want some excitement in their compact car. VERY highly recommended!
Review: Epinions won't allow me to review the same product twice, despite radical differences in the trim and equipment levels. This is the original review I wrote of a 2003 Protege LX 5 speed. I am moving it to the 2002 Protege as I recently bought a VERY...

Awesome car, We bought two

Date of Review:  Nov 14, 2002
The Bottom Line: Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla and Nissan Sentra. Dissected them all. The Protege Is so well Built I bought my wife and me one. One year ago keep going Mazda.
Review: Sleek body style,European look. hood has smooth lines. the rear spoiler is a great accent to the over all look of the car.this is the first new car body style in the Protege's line-up over the years that stands out by far. I think Honda and Toyota...

Transmission Beware!!

Date of Review:  Sep 8, 2005
Review: Owners beware of transmission failures after 60,000 miles. My transmission broke at 61,000 miles. Mazda refused to help. Total bill for new transmission came to $2,500. I thought I was buying a reliable Japanese car. Huh. My Protege now has a big...

0% apr is just icing on the cake...

Date of Review:  Apr 11, 2002
The Bottom Line: A great handling, roomy, well made car, saddled with a slightly unwilling engine. Fuel economy could be better.
Review: I always liked Proteges. They were fun cars with zesty engines and good handling and braking. Sure, they weren't as economical as Civics or Corollas, but the only Civic I would look at was the 92-95 EX Sedan. I even had second thoughts about my...

Mazda Protege ES

Date of Review:  Sep 14, 2005
The Bottom Line: I find it to be a terrific car and a great alternative to the Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla, or Honda Civic. Much nicer.
Review: My 2002 Mazda Protege ES has around 45,000 miles, and not a problem since, its fairly roomy for a compact car, and gets good mileage when driven properly (I average 25 mpg). Dash is comfortable and pleasant to look at, all though the shifter (for...

Happy Car

Date of Review:  Jul 22, 2004
Review: I've had this car for 2 years now and can confidently claim that I am glad that I bought it. The best thing I noticed was that it takes turns really accurately. Acceleration with regular gas is a little lazy; much better with premium. I've had no...
