Joe Black The Man

A friend of mine recommended this movie to me telling me how good it is. I rented it and truly enjoyed it from the beginning to end. Brad Pitt is not only drop dead gorgeous, but a very good actor. His performance in this movie was outstanding. I was very impressed with his Caribbean dialect when talking to the Island lady in the hospital.
The scene where he is introduced to peanut butter was just too cute. It's funny how a movie can inspire a person to want something. In this case I just had to go to the store the next day and buy a jar of peanut butter, something I haven't had in quite a while.
Anthony Hopkins' role was absolutely superb as a loving father to his two daughters and a very good business man who was almost always level headed under the most stressful situations.
I cannot remember previously seeing a movie with Claire Forlani, but I plan to find more movies that she plays in. I thought her performance was very good too. I found her to be a woman who did not really love her fiancé and was too submissive to whatever he wanted of her. I think when Joe Black came into her life, he taught her that she had a mind of her own, that she could do whatever she wanted to and not what someone else expected her to. He therefore taught her the true meaning of love and what it is like to be loved.
Upon the exposure of her fiancé's underhanded venture to take control of her father's company, she realized she did not love this man and was able to let him go so she could love and truly be loved for herself.
Each time I watch this movie I like it more. The only part of this movie that I have not been able to understand is when her father went down the hill to die and Joe Black came back to the end of the birthday party as the man she met in the beginning of the movie.
If you like Anthony Hopkins as much as I, you will enjoy his role in "The Mask of Zorro."
