Windows XP SP2 Security & Stability

Microsoft Windows XP is a very good OS and far better than many of Microsoft's previous Operating Systems. It is based on both Windows NT and Windows 2000. It is much more stable than Windows 95 or Win 98 or even Windows Millennium Edition. More security features and many other new thingshave been added. It has a software firewall and a security center to let you know what security programs you have active. Service Pack 2 improved the security of the OS and fixed a few things the first Service pack had not. Overall I feel that it is a very good Operating system and needs little to be learned if your familiar with any of the earlier Microsoft Operating Systems. In particular Windows NT or Windows 2000. I've used it on several PC's including my own personal PC's at home. I've had very little trouble with it and nothing that I was not able to fix or get help for. As of this time it is one of the best Operating Systems for those wishing to use it at home. I'm writing about the upgrade version in this review which needs you to have a previous Microsoft OS like Windows 98 installed or for you to simply have the disc for a previous version of Windows. You can both upgrade your existing installation or make a fresh install in which you will be asked to insert a previous version of a Microsoft's Windows Operating System.

The only issues I have with this product is some of the new theme and effects it uses. As well as it's Activation requirement. The themes & effects which can slow down some older machines. However it is possible to set the OS to use the old style theme and start menu. The Activation is a annoyance to say the least for anyone who plans on upgrading their hardware as they well later have to re-activate Windows XP after having changed three major hardware components. I found this very annoying when upgrading my computers hardware. Beyond that I find to be excellent.
