HZ-450: Anything but nifty.

Pros: Attractive styling, ease of operation

Cons: They don't last

The Bottom Line: Unreliable. It doesn't seem to operate past 48 hours of total use.

I bought two HZ-450 Solar Screen quartz heaters from Home Depot on Dec. 28, 2001. I bought a third one on Dec. 31, 2001.
On Jan. 5, 2002, I returned one because it stopped working. Home Depot replaced it with another HZ-450 last week. Today, Jan. 9, another one stopped working.
I live in New Jersey where the weather during the period stated herein, was relatively mild. I estimate each heater was utilized for a total of 36 to 48 hours.
According to your Operating Instructions trouble shooting section, the heater may turn off automatically when it reaches the temperature set by the thermostat control. Yet, an hour later when I turn it back on, nothing happens. The indicator light turns on but nothing else. Pressing the Reset button does nothing either.
I will return the second of the three I bought tomorrow. Frankly, I don't know whether I want to replace it with another HZ-450 and be disappointed again.
