I was in my local Wal*mart one day looking for bandages and came across the
New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage. I decided it was exactly what I needed for hard to bandage areas PLUS it had the antiseptic already in. I paid around $4.99 for my bottle at the time. It was worth every penny spent.
Despite the harsh smell, it really isnt all that bad as others say. No worse than using super glue so to speak. Basically that is what this is, except it is safe to use on kids and adults of all ages. Please read the warnings I have listed below that came directly from the box and bottle.
I have had to use the New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage on a few occasions but the more serious ones I will explain how well this works for my family and why I recommend it for every household.
About two months ago my sons were playing wrestling (yes they KNEW better but you know kids!) and somehow my youngest son who is 8 hit his head on a door jam. Im still waiting on a true story on how it all happened. Anyways, the cut wasnt deep enough for stitches and so I decided to use my new bottle of super glue for skin! I first cleaned the area of where the injury was, and then slowly and carefully put the New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage on the wound. Im not going to lie, it did burn, but I found blowing on it helped the sting. My son was a REAL trooper and with in 5 minutes he was good to go! I did go ahead and take him to the doctor the following morning to see if he should get X-rays and just to have it looked at. The doctor assured me that I did the right thing and basically did the exact same thing the ER would have done. She said that most hospitals are using this type of bandage INSTEAD of stitches when possible. His head healed completely with in 2 weeks of his injury.
Another instance of me using the New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage was just yesterday when our new puppy got a little rough with my oldest daughter whos 7. My youngest daughter was running through the house like crazy getting the puppy all excited and you know how puppys get when they think someone is playing
they tend to bite. Well, Ashley decided to get in the puppys face to calm him down and he bit her right above the lip and took a small chunk out. It was more like a slice of skin, not deep but enough to hurt and bleed of course. So out comes my little bottle of life saver and I called my doctor to explain to her what had happened. Of course normal questions from any animal bite is Are they up to date on their shots? and of course all my pets are up to date as well as all of my children *g*. She told me to use the liquid bandage and if there were any redness or swelling to call her. So again, I cleaned the wound thoroughly and applied the liquid bandage. It went on quickly and smoothly enough that with in 15 minutes (after she calmed down herself), she was ready to eat supper!
It is so amazing to be able to use this stuff when possible with out having to sit in an ER for hours, and to have your children up and going with in 15 minutes or so after applying the bandage. New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage dries quickly and may need to apply a few coats 1-3 times a day. And the best part is, it doesn't wash off like other liquid types of bandage. Its a must have for every household. I strongly recommend calling your doctor before using the product if you arent comfortable with doing so on certain types of wounds though.
The smell of it is awful, but like I said earlier, it is no worse than super glue. And the smell doesnt last that long either. And yes, it does burn when its applied, but thats from the antiseptic and thats what you want on wounds! Blowing on the bandage after applying it really helps the sting. I guarantee it. If my 7 year old and 8 year old can with stand the smell and the sting, anyone can!
Now with that all being said on how I personally feel about this product, I want to share with you the basics of New Skin Antiseptic Liquid Bandage.
