Full Featured Point and Shoot

After spending a lot of time researching the various cameras available today, I chose to buy the Nikon P5000 digital camera. I have been very happy with the picture quality of the Nikon P5000. It has almost everything I was looking for including an optical viewfinder,image stabilization, face finding capabilities and a full range of manual and automatic controls.

On the 4th of July I shot some pictures of fireworks without even the use of a tripod and I was very impressed with the picture results.

Macro shooting allows you to shoot from as close as 1.6 inches
It also has a BSS (Best Shot Selector) feature. This feature identifies and saves the sharpest image automatically from ten sequential shots

The ISO rating goes as high as 3200, which I believe is close to the highest available. I think that there are some cameras that can shoot at ISO rating of 6400. This feature is great for low light situations

I had considered the Canon G7 which also allows you a lot of manual control but the Canon G7 is significantly larger (in my opinion) than the Nikon P5000.

I highly recommend this camera for anybody who wants a relatively small camera with the ability to use it creatively with the manual control it offers. The camera offers aperature priority, shutter priority, full manual control as well as a fully automatic mode. Although I do not think that I will ever buy a flash or additional lenses/adapters for the camera, it is nice to know that I have that capability
