The Nikkor 18-135 f3.5-5.6G ED-IF AFS Digital Lens

Date of Review:  Nov 21, 2006
The Bottom Line: Save your money and use it on other more effective focal length and lens combinations.
Review: is one of those Nikon kit lenses that the company seems to have become fond of developing so that they can package them with their consumer and prosumer digital SLR cameras. I have seen this lens kitted with both the Nikon D200 camera and now, the...

Good, versatile walkabout lens

Date of Review:  Dec 4, 2007
The Bottom Line: A good mid-grade quality lens with versatile and flexible zoom range, and very good picture quality.
Review: I purchased this lens as a kit with the d40x body, paying the extra $$$ versus the 18-55mm and 55-200mm kit. This lens seemed to be a good compromise both performance- and cost-wise between the normal 18-55mm and 55-200mm kit lenses and the...

Nice, lightweight zoom

Date of Review:  Nov 20, 2008
The Bottom Line: For the price, I wouldn't buy it seperately; if you get it with a camera, it's worth hanging onto as a spare.
Review: I recently bought the Nikon D80, which includes this lens as a kit lens. I've also got the D40, with the 18-200mm VR. So, I swapped 'em out, and the 18-135mmG ED is a great match with the D40. Makes for a nice, light weight running around camera...

Not up to Nikon reputation

Date of Review:  May 13, 2008
The Bottom Line: This lens isn't worth the money savings. Underexposes, significant barrel distortion, and vignetting.
Review: The Nikkor name drew me in, but this isn't a stellar lens. I've been using it for two years with a D80 body.

I'll start with the worst flaw; this lens, the unit I received anyway, underexposes by 1-2 f-stops. In laymen terms, it needs up...
