Great lens, not as sharp as my 300mm

I have had this lens for about 4 years and do enjoy and plan to keep this lens. I have been somewhat satisfied with the landscape results for the time-being, since I only do landscapes about 20% of the time and do wildlife photography the rest of the time. I don't know if I would say that it isn't sharp, because the images are sharp, but have never been amazing. I know I still need to get out at better light which would help, but to be honest, it could be me, but when I take photos of wildlife with my 300mm 2.8, at times I find them to be drastically better than any landscape photo taken with this 24-120. I have used this lens both with and without a tripod, utilizing the VR function. The VR function does work well, and one must turn it off when using a tripod to avoid camera shake. It does work well I find, when viewing pixels at 100%. Overall, I would recommend it, but if someone is getting into serious landscape photography, perhaps other better lenses are available that I have not tried yet. It is easy to use and it's 24-120 range is just right for everyday situations, but a somewhat wider angle might capture better landscapes.
