The Bottom Line: Love it! Can't beat the technology, the price, the fun, and that a video game system actually brings our family together.
I bought the Wii for my husband last year with great trepidation - I know many "video game widows". However, the Wii has proven to bring our family together, not isolate us from each other! Somehow Nintendo has managed to come up with a gaming system that appeals to women, older folks, and is easy enough for younger children - while still be an amazing piece of technology that my techy husband enjoys. This system is amazing - it responds to your motion, so you PLAY the game, not just play the game... We've had bowling competitions, played baseball, sword fights in Zelda and even had our own American Idol competition!
I have a 7 year old son and a 5 year old daughter and we all play together. My parents (50 folks that can't seem to figure out the DVD player...) even join in! Yet it's cool enough that after the kids go to bed we can pop in Zelda or Madden and enjoy.
If you are looking for a gaming system that won't send your spouse/boyfriend/son etc. down to the basement where they sit and play and forget there's other people in the house - this is for you.
Only cautionary note I have is that the safety strap is NOT just a pretty extra. WEAR it! But for that lovely little piece of string I'm sure we would have replaced many a window in our house. Also, make sure players are spaced a little apart from each other - we've had collisions that have caused a few tears.
