Not quite what it's cracked up to be, but cute.

Bought this item as I'm a sucker for 50's stuff, and here was something that actually looked useful. However there are a couple of key design flaws that make it less than stellar, and if I could return it, I would. But I bought it from an eBayer in Austin, TX and am apparently stuck with it. Here are my main disappointments:

-if the alarm is set and turned on, the neon light cannot be turned on, or the alarm just keeps going on and off endlessly. Seems like a circuitry problem, as I can't think of a reason it would have been designed this way on purpose.

-because of above problem, you can't see the clock face in the middle of the night (if the alarm is set and turned on).

-the neon is very bright and some people may not want it on anyway while they're trying to sleep, but there is no other lighting for the clock face - not even the old glow-in-the-dark numbers & hands.

-sound quality is pretty dismal, although if you grew up on am radio, you can choose to find it "nostalgic".
