David Bowie's detailed and fascinating cyber world.

One of the main qualities of a computer game is the ability to transport you from your everyday world into a new one which is only limited by a human's imagination.For this world to be believable you have to have as much freedom as possible to eat,sleep etc etc wherever and whenever you want.
Normally this is the stuff of dedicated role playing games such as the Might and Magic series.Omikron creates one of the most realistic feeling environments ever created in a game.The atmosphere is great due to an excellent soundtrack and a vibrant world oozing with people to talk to and places to visit. The places aren't just static pre-rendered jobbies either. If you go into a cafe there are people eating,serving and chatting away living their own cyber lives.

The game tries to fit in numerous different types of gameplay. There is a proper one on one beat em up complete with special moves etc etc.You can even enter a fighting tournament in the city if you feel like it.Not everything in the city needs to be seen in order to progress in the game. You can choose to experience as little or as much as you like,increasing the replay value greatly.There is far too much packed into this game to mention including several first person shooting sections, a David Bowie concert which you can go and watch,hundreds of different objects to eat,fight with etc etc.
Many reviews have made negative comments about each section, saying that the fighting isn't as good as Tekken,the shooting isn't as good as Time Crisis etc. In this huge and ambitious game these sections are merely the icing on an already delicious cake and until Shenmue this is the best game on the Dreamcast for everyone seeking a bit of glorious escapism.
