In my kitchen, I am always blending something, whether it be a drink of some kind or a sauce for a meal. I love my blender, but sometimes I really don't want to bother with it, so I pull out my Oster Handheld Blender. It sits on my counter, plugged in and ready for use, all of the time. It takes up very little space.

First of all, the handle is really easy to grasp. It is ergonomically shaped which fits right into your hand comfortably. It weighs less than 4 pounds so it isn't difficult to hold or control. The handle is white with rubberized power buttons. The rod and blade are made of stainless steel which gives it the power and durability. The S-blade is protected by a stainless steel "dome". This rod is detachable and is dishwasher safe. Remember to unplug the blender before detaching the rod.

It also comes with a plastic cup for blending. It also has measurements on the side. The lid serves both as a lid and a base. When you are blending, attach the lid to the bottom of the cup. This prevents the cup from moving around on your counter. The cup is dishwasher safe.

One of my favorite things is the chopper attachment. This is great for vegetables and nuts. I love making salsa in it. Just add your ingredients and the blender does the rest. You can chop it fine or chunky. This attachment is a bowl with a lid basically. The lid and blender fit together which turns the blades inside. This attachment is also dishwasher safe.

What do I blend with this handheld blender? Anything that I can put in my blender and more. It is so easy to make chocolate milk. You can use the blender with any cup. Add your milk and chocolate, insert the blender rod and press the low button to get a "feel" of the blender. You can turn it up to high if you need to. However, low mixes the chocolate milk great. You won't find chocolate at the bottom of the cup because it blends it so well.

It is great for fruit juices or milk shakes, sauces and gravies. You can take the blender to the stove too, as long as you have an outlet close. Remember, the rod and blade are stainless steel, so some cookware is not compatible. Mine is compatible and I frequently use the handheld to blend up my mashed potatoes right on the stove. The powerful motor just blends right through them on the High setting. You have to stop sometimes and knock off the potatoes that get in the blade, but this isn't a problem.

You can use this handheld for mixing up batters of any kind as well. I used it the other day to make some cupcakes. They blended really easily and it saved me time since I didn't have to get out my regular mixer and find the attachments.

Cleaning is really easy. As I stated, most of the parts are dishwasher safe. However, I usually wash them all by hand because I tend to use the handheld so often. Nothing sticks the surfaces, that I have found, but I do wash them as soon as I finish with them.

This handheld blender makes a great gift. I recently purchased another one as a wedding gift for a couple moving into an apartment. They have very limited space and this handheld serves so many purposes, the couple was delighted with their gift. Also, it works great for other small areas like RV's or dorm rooms.
