Let me start out by saying I have never found an electric shaver that I was happy with. I have a very tough beard and sensitive skin. This seems to be the kiss of death if you want to use an electric. I've always wanted to be able to shave on the ride to work to save a little time in the mornings. Over the past few years I have fallen for the advertising of 'as close as a blade' type claims on several occassions. I have owned Norelco, Braun and Remmington shavers and had similar results from each. Norelco was probably the best of the bunch. With each of these it would take me longer than using a blade because I had to go over the same area multiple times to get a reasonably close shave and by noon it looked like I didn't shave that morning. But I didn't have any razor cuts either like I usually do with my blade.

What was different about the Panasonic.

I was able to shave dry with fewer passes than any of the others and got a pretty good shave. Much better than any of the others. No more irritation than with my blade. Dry shave still wasn't close enough for me but before going back to the blade I gave it a few days and I continued to get a little better at using it.

After a week or so I found myself using the blade once in a while for a really close shave and just for kicks I decided to give it a shot in the shower. (can't do that with any of the others). Man what a surprise. I threw a little soap on my face and very quickly go a shave that was faster and as close as my blade. I was shocked. Not that the dry shave wasn't as good but I couldn't believe that I got a blade close shave with an electric. I now pass on the shave in the car unless I'm really late and I opt for the hot shower shave instead. No more razor cuts and a close shave that lasts all day with NO stubble.

Way to go Panasonic! I knew somebody would figure it out eventually.

Cleaning system works well. Can use just the cord to charge the shaver or you can hook the cord to the charging / cleaning station and let it charge there. You don't have to initiate the cleaning function each time you put it on the base. Since I use mine in the shower I only do it every few days. When I used it dry it was nice to get a clean and fresh smelling razor off the cradle each morning.

Cleaning solution will last a month or so if used everyday. Price of the refills is in line with the other brands, at a few bucks each. But since it's a wet/dry you can just put a little soap on it and turn it on and it foams right up and cleans itself pretty good. I'm as cheap as the next guy but I like the cleaning system every few days.
