When my Black and Decker iron died, I shopped around for a replacement. My considerations included very high end Rowenta to a $30 iron. But I read about the Panasonic cordless and I went out to buy one. I bought the NI-L46NR model from a local electronics store. I had some doubts about the performance of this iron due to some negative reviews (among many positive ones) that I have read.
But when I came home and tried it, I immediatedly realize this is a great product. It will do everything that I ever needed, less the cord which I always had to manage not to cause an accident during ironning. I appreciate the simple 3 step electronic heat selection; very easy to use. The retractable cord in the base is a neat touch for storage.
My use model: The base stays on the side of the iron-board. I put back the iron onto the base whenever I am preparing another area of the garmet to iron.
My ironning include, men's and women's shirt (cotton, polyester, blend, silk), men's and women's pants (wool, blends, cotton, jeans), polo shirts. Usually my ironing session ranges from a few pieces to 10-15 pieces. This iron performs with no problem with any of these. I never miss the corded iron. Steam generation worked great too.
I appreciate the following features. No cords to tangle or cause an accident during ironning. Nicely designed and made. The base is another accident preventer as you lay the iron flat on the base when resting instead of letting it stand. Removable water tank also can reduce accidents as you can just remove the tank to refill during an ironning session. A nice storage case completes the goodies.
