Author's Review
Headphones can be a difficult product to pick out reliably. There are a lot of different options from different companies, and aside from some stylistic differences, they all seem to look the same. And there aren't many reliable specifications to tell you how good the sound quality is going to be. So when I chose this pair of headphones I didn't have much to go on. So I went by one of the only product specifications available on the back of the package of all headphones: Frequency Response.
Almost every pair of headphones will list within what frequency range it will operate. I picked the pair, in my price range with the widest frequency response (14 - 24000 Hz)
I was not disappointed. In comparison to previous pairs of headphones I have used, the sound quality is phenomenal! Wearing these headphones makes me feel like I am surrounded by quality speakers.
Now, before anyone points it out, yes, I am aware that the usually cited "range of human hearing" is only 20-20000 HZ, so the large frequency response shouldn't matter. It seems like it shouldn't matter, but I can hear the added depth, compared to most headphones. Perhaps it is not the frequency range, but the "Neodymium magnets" that powers this product.
The bass quality is deep and booming, and the high end is full-toned and complete. Now, no headphones can truly compare to a good set of speakers, but these ones come as close as possible for the price range.
Besides the excellent sound quality, the headphones are also comfortable and stylish. The behind-the-head fit looks cool and feels right. The only beef I have is that after prolonged periods, the piece of the headphones that holds behind my right ear starts to irritate me... although I think that's just because my right ear is a touch higher than my left.
Also, the package claims that the headphones are water-resistant. They don't look like it, and I certainly don't feel like trying it, but should they be out in the rain, that feature is an added bonus.
They fold up for travel quite nicely. When folded they are approximately the size of a pair of sunglasses.
