Product Review

A new type of iron

by   slidingby ,   Aug 13, 2008

Pros:  Soleplate with few steam holes glides well and doesn't grab buttons.

Cons:  Requires distilled water, if your water is hard. Doesn't have an "off" switch.

The Bottom Line:  This is the best thing for ironing your clothes and for use versatility while sewing that I've used.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

I have been using a Reliable V95 for one month, and like it. My old Rowenta fell on the floor one time too many, and the new one was defective, so I decided to change brands. It's not just a change of brands, it's a different iron from any I have used. Because it's digital, there are no in-between areas in the heat settings. Because steam is heated separately from the soleplate, it can steam standing up, and at cooler soleplate temperatures. I didn't want an iron that turns itself off when sitting unused because I sew, which means ironing frequently as you work, but now I like it because it reheats quickly and doesn't heat up the room in warm weather. It sounds whenever it's shutting off or reheating. There are two steam volume settings, and the controls are very handy so you can turn off the steam instead of wasting water or engulfing yourself in clouds of steam while you turn a shirt around on the ironing board. It's heavy and steamy enough to remove wrinkles better than any iron I have had. It comes with a measured water pitcher, and you can pour unused water back into the pitcher without spilling.
