Rock band for Play Station 3

I have three teen aged sons that were coveting this game since it became available. First we had to decide which system to use this with. (Either the XBox 360 or the PS3.) The boys had a solid point of view: Although most of their friends have the 360, and it would be fun to be able to play with them online, it requires a purchased membership; whereas PS3 is online for free. They also felt that PS3 has better graphics. We ended up getting it for the PS3. Once we got that settled, we were able to buy the PS3 version before Christmas for the standard selling price of $169.99 at Game Stop. The graphics are amazing. The playlists are quite limited. You can, however, earn more songs by completing concerts successfully or PURCHASE more songs from the Playstation store. You get to make up your band's name and even create your own character down to fine details! As the previous reviewer commented, we have experienced difficulty with the guitar. (You will hit notes correctly, but the game does not register them being hit at all.) I will come back to let you know how the customer service works out with regard to exchanging the guitar. The levels are appropriately set up making the beginner level quite doable. The drums are my personal favorite. New Year's Eve I played Rock band with my youngest son for the first time to find two hours had flown by. "Just one more song and then I have to stop" went on for the last half hour. Rock band brings out the "rock star" in everyone no matter who they are or their age. It's a great way to spend time with the kids without feeling like your zoning out on the couch playing traditional video games.
