Product Review

Very kewl!

by   satori_in_atl ,   May 28, 2004

Pros:  Uses regular trash bags, easy to use!

Cons:  Haven't noticed any!

The Bottom Line:  Buy it, unless you have animals or fairies living with you who will dispose of dirty diapers for you. Great price, easy to use, tackles odor well.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

When I first got this pail, I was afraid our cats might knock it over, so I put a brick in the bottom to hold it in place. That's worked so far, and I'm pleased to have prevented all five (my cats and hubby's cats combined--we're like The Brady Bunch of cats!) of our felines from knocking it over.

I tend to dump poopies in the toilet before disposing of the diaper, and my mother and sister trained me to wrap the diapers tightly, so smell is not a problem. Also, I have one day a month reserved for washing the litter box and the diaper pail, so it is cleaned and sanitized on a monthly basis. Again, this helps to prevent odors.

Don't get this if you're too lazy to change the bag out at least every couple of days. I scoop the cat boxes every other day, so I've just added the diaper pail to my list of "sanitation chores". :) Actually, if you don't feel like you need to change the diaper pail out more than once a week, I want to live where you do! Here on Earth, that just leads to stinkiness!

One of the reviews I read here was from a woman who had bought this pail used and was very disappointed with its performance. This is one thing I would never buy used. The average baby isn't 6 months old when he/she is potty trained, and with a couple of years of usage, things tend to be less effective than they were when new.

Yes, there is a small gap in the lid that opens to change the bag, but I hardly think it's a design flaw that should be corrected. If you're going to place a lid that opens on something, you'll need to allow the lid a tiny bit of space to actually open. If the garbage bag is installed correctly in the pail, it will hold all the odor within itself.

I would, however, recommend the use of scented bags and a Stick-Up (rather than trying to find the deodorizing disks).

I love this pail for its ease of use and convenience. I love that changing bags is so simple and that you don't have to buy specialty liners for this. I don't really hate anything about it, well except that it doesn't turn the poopies to gold or something useful like that. And it never picks up the nursery for me. What a bummer!
