Works Great!
Date of Review: Nov 21, 2006
The Bottom Line: Great player with many uses for music and MP3 files of all kinds.
I did a lot of looking at numerous MP3 players before deciding on this one. My biggest concern was having a player that would be able to use MP3 files of different bit rates/sampling/etc because I record radio programs onto my computer for listening at a later time. So far, I've not had any problems playing my recorded files, or any downloaded MP3 programs/music, plus I've been able to load all my favorite CD's onto the player with almost 3 gig of space left over(CD rate set to 128Kbs). The FM radio is a plus, and it seems to work well. It has good sensitivity in rural areas, but seems to be a little noisy from interference in a big city environment. The voice recorder is a nice thing to have for small reminders. Another BIG plus is having the ability to replace the battery if needed.(Lithium batteries typically last for 3 years, then start loosing their capacity). I've used it everyday I've owned mine so far, to listen to a 3 hour radio program in my van, and to some music for the drive home, and I haven't run the battery below 3/4 yet. The audio output doesn't seem to be near as loud as an ipod, but it's useable....especially when connecting it to an external speaker source such as a car stereo.
As for the problem that others have had with the unit locking up,,,,,I've had it lock up a few times(mostly after it goes into hibernation from being on PAUSE for too long), but found that if you hold the power button in for 10 seconds, the unit will reset, then all you have to do is turn it on and start using it again......no need to remove the battery to reset the unit.
All in all, I'm very pleased with my choice!
