Fast, quite, dependable

The Seagate FreeAgent 500GB external hard drive is perfect for doing backups as well as using it for additional file storage.

I purchased my FreeAgent from newegg.com about a month ago. The software installation started right up the first time I plugged the USB cable into my computer.

You can set the FreeAgent to do incremental backups with their easy schedule setup. The incremental backups are great because it only updates the files that have changed since the previous backup.

The initial backup took a little while but my incremental backups take less than 20 minute just because it is not backing up all the files, only the ones that have changed.

I can also use the FreeAgent as another hard drive, storing files of all sorts onto it.

Being an external hard drive with a USB interface, I find it portable and can use it both a work and at home.

By purchasing it online at newegg.com I did not have to pay tax. The price was $99 which I have seen for sale at local retailers but there is tax. Shipping was also free at newegg.com. You may see this hard drive for a lower price but make sure it is original and not refurbished (unless you want refurbished). The refurbished models came with a much shorter warranty where the new hard drive comes with a 5 year limited warranty. To me it was worth paying $10 more to get the longer warranty.

To date, no problems with my SeaGate FreeAgent. I find it very dependable.
