Long-term reliability of Kinetic movement has not be satisfactory

I purchased a Seiko Kinetic Titanium about 7 years ago. After about 3.5 years, the "storage cell" began to fail and the watch would not maintain a charge. The cell was replaced for $100 by Seiko's US service arm, Coserv. Two years later, same thing. This time, I had my neighbor, a local watchmaker, replace the cell. Here it is a year later and the watch is again failing to hold a charge.

My personal experience with a Seiko Kinetic watch had not been a good one. While I love the styling and especially the durability of a pure titanium watch, I cannot recommend the Kinetic movement. My previous Seiko watch was battery-powered so every couple years, I would have the battery replaced for less than $10. With the Kinetic, I have spent $150 over the lifetime of the watch for repairs and I am again facing a repair bill.
