Decent headphones...but save your penny's!

This is a hard price range when it comes to headphones on the market today. For those who just want the functionality of a decent set of headphones will easily settle for your run of the mill $15-$20 bud or in-ear set. But when sound quality is a must for you, of course you won't mind dishing out a couple more dollars for something that stretches the quality above the bar. Sadly with a price tag of $60.00(US), I expected a little more form a name like Sennheiser and a lot more for my hard earned money.
That said, you can spend a LOT more on a set of headphones. I bought these headphones with the thought in mind that I would use them for late night gaming sessions and listing to MP3's in the early morning hours. I just feel that these headphones "just don't deliver" when it comes to the $60.00 price tag. The bass is lacking, mostly due to the ear hugging design of the headphones. Although this design is comfortable even during 3 to 4 hours of use. The bass seems to come through bigger and more punchy with a cup design that incapsules your whole ear unlike these headphones which just merely "lay" over your ear. The midrange is way to overpowered and drowns out any crisp highs that would otherwise be present. This observation is not based on a certain catagory of music that I listen to, I feel its an across the board observation. Everything from Creedence Clearwater Rivival,indie rock, classical to rap just leave me wanting more from these headphones.
I am listening to Sennheiser HD457's as I write this review and feel that if I would have just saved a little more money, maybe $30-$35 more dollars I could have gotten a pair of headphones that would have blown me away. My advice? Save a couple more dollars, wait that extra week and buy a nice pair of Sony HD digital headphones. Your patience or willingness to spend just a little more will definitly pay off.
