SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW

I purchased this model about one year ago and had it professionally installed by a construction company which was renovating my kitchen. About six months later, the push-button door opener jammed. I had it serviced to find out that it had melted. It was made of PLASTIC!!! The melting was due to the fact that the specs say that the top of the m/v-hood should be 30" from the cooking surface. This puts the bottom at 14" above the cooktop or about only 7" from the steam and heat of a moderate pan. Since it was under warranty, the replacement of the entire control panel and push-button opener was covered. The repairman showed me the invoice for the repair. It was $189.00! Today, I purchased a three year warranty from www.sharpusa.com. Would you permanently place something plastic 14" above your range???

Another problem is that steam from the cooking items gets into the LCD (clock) as forces it to malfunction.
