Good multi-type oven

We purchased a Sharp 820 last year. We had some trepidations, since there were no epinions reviews and the views on Sharp's other models are sharply divided (love them or hate them). I'm happy to say we really like this machine.

The microwave is strong and easy to use, but it's only the beginning of the 820. It does convection cooking, broiling and grilling. I won't go into the details of each, except to say that we are happy with the performance.

There are a few drawbacks: One is that the user interface takes a little getting used to. Another is that the cooking space is not as big as the external size might lead you to believe (it's still pretty big, though). Finally, the round platform rotates no matter what kind of cooking you are doing. This is usually a good thing, but if you want to put in a dish that is bigger than the round disc, it will hit the sides. These issues are by no means deal breakers.

Sharp warns you that your cooking times/temps for traditional baking will likely need some tweaking when using the convection oven. This is true, but if you follow the original recipe you probably won't have a disaster... it just won't be quite the way you expected. They have guidelines for which direction to adjust time and temp, and they are pretty good.

Overall we are really happy, as I said, and recommend this oven.
