Great option, easy on the wallet

Pros: Excellent focal range, solid quality feel.

Cons: Concern about upgrading camera software and then needing to re-chip the lens.

I purchased this lens to go with my new Canon EOS-30D dSLR. I considered very carefully whether to go with a third party lens, but after reading several reviews on this lens, and the price comparison I decided to go for it. I am glad that I did - I have not had any problems, it is quick, and for my purposes quiet, and fast.

The lens has the look and feel of a high quality product, and it performs way I expected.

I shoot mostly landscapes when hiking, and portraits of family - no weddings where noise might be an issue, but I would NOT call this lens noisy.
