SONY DVP-CX995V 400-disc DVD/Super-Audio CD (SA-CD) changer

About six months ago I received my favorite electronics catalog. Perusing the pages I discovered what I had wanted for ages. A 400-Disc DVD/SA-CD/CD Mega Changer so I would have the ability for CD's and movies available at a touch of a button. The unit is massive but accommodates 400 disk of CDs or DVDs or any combination. I have packed mine with DVDs so I would not have to handle the disk anymore than necessary. It's definitely a Godsend, The DVP-CX995V 400-disc DVD/Super-Audio CD (SA-CD) changer is the player and a dust free storage unit. Everything is located in one place and no fiddling around with the disk. The Sony DVD changer up-scales video to high definition (1080i/720p) resolution and transmits high quality audio through a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI), but not for composite output. With a number of DVD movies, shows and music CDs, the changer is the perfect way for anyone to organize their entertainment collections. The unit features Sony's Precision Cinema Progressive circuitry, Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 channel outputs and compatibility with DVD-RW/-R/+RW/+R, MP3, JPEG , CD-RW/-R, VCD and SVCD playback.

Normally, I don't buy a product like this when it first comes to market. I like for the manufactures to work out the kinks and the price to settle. But this item was an exception to the rule, it had everything I was looking for HDMI, component and composite out and 5.1 dolby surround sound.

The image quality is exceptional, the sound suburb and convenience built into this solid DVP-CX995V 400-disc DVD/Super-Audio CD (SA-CD) changer. I just love it for many reasons but --

There seems to always be a but -- doesn't it? Well, unfortunately, there's one here too. The DVP-CX995V 400-disc DVD/Super-Audio CD (SA-CD) changer has a very annoying flaw. It's autoplay feature initializes every time the unit is powered on. It loads the disk and begins playing. It's nice when the disk playing is the one you desire to see but it's very inconvenient having to wait for the disk to load and play before you can stop it. Pressing the stop button repeatedly does not disengage the autoplay.

The system automatically catalogs your DVDs if the information is on them. For DVDs without the data you can interface with any standard computer keyboard and input it. This can be a time consuming task but in the end your investment will pay off.

There is one improvement I would like to see Sony add to their future DVD Jukebox Changers. In it's present state with disk loaded -- you should not attempt to move or relocate the product unless you remove all of the disk. Sony should have incorporated a lock down function that would secure the disk in place.
