When HD does not Equal High Definition

Warning!
I'd like to start this by saying I'm not a TV techie. However, when I went to Best Buy and saw this Sony "HDMI - High Definition Multimedia Interface" DVD player, I mistakenly thought I was buying a DVD player that would play High Definition DVDs. Wrong! High Definition Multimedia Interface is NOT the same as a High Definition DVD player. Can I possibly be the only person on earth that doesn't understand that? You need HD cables to use this unit but it is not a HD DVD player. It says High Definition all over it but it is not a high definition DVD player. Caveat Emptor.
Sony's web site states:

Can Sony #153 DVD players play HD DVD discs?
No. The HD DVD format is not supported. Only an HD DVD player can play HD DVD discs.
NOTE: Sony does not manufacture HD DVD players." (12/29/2007)
That was a shock to me. I thought Sony made it all.
Enough whining.

What's good?
This DVD player was easy to set up, works great (with non HD DVDs) and even plays music discs. Since I don't have fabulous speakers on my TV this was more of a novelty than anything but for those with a home theater system this could be great.
It has a nice slim profile, fabulous controls on the remote that work with no need for a manual OR a phone call to my son. And I loved the ability to toggle subtitles on with a single click.

Would I buy it again? No. I'd spend an extra 80 dollars and get a player that plays HD DVD's. Based on the epinions reviews I'm going for this Toshiba player (on sale at Best Buy) and reviewed by an epinions user here "http://www.epinions.com/content_408422092420".
