A sound economic proposal - or an economic sound proposal

Date of Review:  Oct 27, 2006
The Bottom Line: Sony vs. Bose... 90% of the benefit at 10% of the cost.

You do the math.
Review: After nearly a year of travel-free employment, things have changed in a big way for me, and I'll be logging over 30,000 air miles in two months.

I've never been one of those effete air travelers who bring along their pillow, Evian water,...

First class headphones for second class passengers

Date of Review:  May 31, 2008
The Bottom Line: Before you run out and spend $300 on a really expensive headphone, try these.
Review: I try not to stare, but whenever I board an airplane I have to inventory the electronics in the First Class cabin.

On one trip I spied an Apple MacBook Air and two iPhones in the First Class cabin. The balance of these passenger were using...

Low-end of noise cancelling headphone market disappoints

Date of Review:  Apr 17, 2009
The Bottom Line: If you REALLY need to stay in this price range, then in-flight movies or music will be acceptable and better than non-NC headphones, but I recommend better headphones.
Review: This was my first set of noise canceling headphones.  I received these as part of a “rewards program” and didn’t really know what to expect.

General info on noise canceling headphones:

Keep in mind that no set of noise canceling (NC)...

You Get What You Pay For

Good but not great

Date of Review:  Nov 16, 2005
The Bottom Line: It is an okay set of headsets, but I would recommend these at a $35 USD price point, not at $50 USD.
Review: When I finally became cool and took possession of an iPOD, I decided to spend alittle $$$ on some headphones. I had seen the Bose NC (noise cancellation) headphones and thought, "Woah, these are cool, but I can't afford a three digit sum to fulfill...

Headphones With Some Fatal Flaws

Date of Review:  Jul 10, 2009
The Bottom Line: While these headphones may be fine for the casual user, they aren't comfortable for long-term wear, and the noise cancellation feature didn't hold up under regular use.
Review: I purchased a set of Sony Noise Canceling Headphones about a year-and-a-half ago, when I was looking to replace an old pair of multimedia headphones that I'd been using for years.  As a transcriptionist, I needed something reliable, with good sound...

Ok for the price

Date of Review:  Jun 18, 2009
The Bottom Line: Ok for a cheap entry level NC headset. I would recommend a set with over the ear cups to cut wind noise, and a more comfortable head band.
Review: I won't go into long detail here, since there are many reviews of this product already.

I just bought mine on sale at Costco for Cdn $49.

My first impression was that these headphones were simply amplifiers, and poor ones at that. They...

Date of Review:  May 15, 2008
The Bottom Line: A good entry-level noise cancelling headphone that is a great start for someone unsure of whether they need these at all.
Review: Initial Impressions
I know a lot of people will disagree with me here and before anybody shoots me down, ask yourself whether you have ever compared each of Sony's noise cancelling headphones side by side at the same time. Most electronics...

Decent sound but too many flaws

Date of Review:  Mar 29, 2007
The Bottom Line: I can't with good conscience recommend headphones that hurt after normal use. For $50 headphones should be comfortable.
Review: I bought these after breaking my Sennheiser PXC-150s and returning a pair of Creative HN-505s, hoping that they would fill the gap left by my Senns for a lower price (Circuit City had them for $40).

I was initially pleased with the sound,...

Great deal!

Date of Review:  Feb 17, 2008
The Bottom Line: Buy them, but make sure you have plenty of AAA batteries on hand.
Review: I originally bought these headphones to use on airplane flights. However, they are so comfortable, and the sound quality is so good, that I routinely use them around the house or yard, with my iPod!

The best feature of these...
