Great Pictures

My wife and I got this camera for a trip to Ireland. Wanted something with higher megapixels and a higher zoom than our Canon PowerShot A75 (also a great camera by the way). After much research and looking we went with the Sony for three reasons:

1) 7.2 megapixels (MP)
2) 12x Optical Zoom
3) Price

The camera has more MP than other cameras for the same price with the same or larger zoom.

The pictures we took turned out very good. Only a little purple fringing. The only thing I can really complain about is the flash, and the time it takes to recharge between pictures.

I see some people here complain about the battery life. Yes, I will not have as good of battery life as other cameras. You can't really expect more out of two AA batteries. So go out and buy yourself some hi power rechargeable batteries. They'll last longer than the standard alkaline batteries. Before going to Ireland, I purchased a 2 pack of Energizer lithium batteries. We took over 400 pictures and a 3 minute video on those two batteries.

Also, the memory cards, if you purchase them in a best buy, circuit city, etc. are comparable in price (maybe a couple dollars different) to other formats. The Memory Stick Duo may not go on sale as much as other formats....I don't really know. I do know that at the time I purchased the camera, the Sony memory cards were the same or maybe $1 or less more than the cards for other comparable cameras.
