Product Review

Soulja Boy proves Nas right.

by   itzchris44 ,   Jun 17, 2008

Pros:  Perfect for mindless dance parties.

Cons:  Terrible lyrics and no decent subject material

The Bottom Line:  Don't buy unless you plan on hosting parties or if you like listening to rappers with lyrical passages and not mindless chants.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

Soulja Boy may have achieved celebrity statues, but at the expense oh hip-hop's already suffering name. From Myspace to mainstream, Soulja Boy has succeeded in becoming hip-hop's newest bad influence. With lyrics ranging from talking about women and money to his complaints about people asking for autographs and his attention, he has proven he has no talent for writing meaningful songs. He is only capable of creating mediocre beats with below average rhymes that somehow manage to top charts and get ample radio play.

To his credit, he and managing team have done a phenomenal job of marketing his specific set of talents to the masses. No matter where you go in college or club parties, you can hear and see people cranking that Soulja Boy or doing the extremely popular dance, The Superman. He even showed some contrast with a slower song titled "Soulja Girl". This is his version of a ballad and it works if you actually like him. Soulja Boy has become a new version of Lil John with slightly fewer chants and a lot less curse words. As far as complete albums go, this is far from one. In fact, it should have never been made.
