Research before buying

I sympathize with the negative reviewers - sellers of this unit should inform buyers that it does not cool as efficiently (even a small room) as a standard window unit. That said, it has advantages over window units that might interest certain consumers. I bought it because my small mobile home has crank type windows and I didn't want to cut a large hole in the wall. I do have to elevate it a few feet off the floor though to allow the exhaust hose to reach a window (keeping the hose length at no more than 20 inches probably improves overall operating efficiency). Even in a small space (200 sq. ft.), however, this unit will only drop the temp from around 90 down to about 80, all factors accounted for(tight insulation, wrapping the exhaust hose, etc.). On the other hand, it pulls about half a gallon of water per hour out of the inside air, which enhances its effectiveness greatly here in the humid East. All in all, buyers just have to carefully consider exactly what they want in an a/c unit, and if powerfull cooling is the top priority, stay away from this baby.
