Product Review

50/50

by   ripclawdane ,   Mar 16, 2008

Pros:  Small, easy install, great for travel

Cons:  Uses up 2 comp USB slots, probably not good for full time hook-up.

The Bottom Line:  For a travel hub, great. Long term use? NO

Overall Rating: 3/5 stars

Author's Review

I bought this along with a laptop because of a desktop mobo dying on me. The price was right. The instructions and install were simple plug and play. It has 2 inputs, the 2nd one for high power devices. Not sure what they mean as no description in the instructions. I have 2 external hard drives and an external DVD writer, so I hooked up both cables to the laptop. Because you are tying up 2 slots on the computer you are only gaining 2 slots. Anyway, I hooked up the 3 devices, not sure if they were high power or not, and the computer registered everything and I was off and happy. No problems for 5 days. One of my hard drives is a 160GB that is full of MP3's, yes pirated. Listening to music one morning and then nothing. I thought the external died. Unplugged the external, hooked it up to the computer, no problems. No port on the hub will go through with that drive. Everything else works fine. Still trying to find out what the problem is. All I can think is it isn't designed for long term use, but reads my other drives no problem on all ports.
