Gets the job done!

While the Texas Instruments TI-1795 SV isn't the fanciest or most expensive calculator on the market, it has a few features that caused me to buy it. I've had good luck with Texas Instruments products before, so I knew I couldn't go wrong with this model--and I was right.

I basically needed a calculator to do simple algebra, and for household reasons; the TI-1795 SV fits the bill. This model would be fine for students who don't need graphing features in a calculator: aside from the basics, it has a square root key, percentage key, and the "()" key, which enables you to switch back and forth between negative and positive numbers. Both the calculator itself and the keys are contoured. You can comfortably hold it in the palm of your hand, but unlike some other models, the TI-1795 SV has a raised screen so that you can see the numerals just as well when the calculator is sitting on a flat surface. Although the calculator is lightweight and has taken quite a beating in my backpack, it works like a charm every time.

The calculator is solar and battery powered, but I have never had to rely on battery power: even in very low light, the numbers are clear and visible. My sole complaint is the light color, because it shows dirt very easily, and I constantly need to wipe it off. All in all, the TI-1795 SV is a reliable, quality product for the price.
