Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation

I'm always a fan of the B-movie. I can't stand when someone does a review of a B-film and they totally pick it apart. For crying out loud IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE BAD! Yet even when a crew goes out of their way to make a bad one, brilliance can still shine through.

Now, not really much of a plot here, it's the same as any other slasher film. A group of teenagers get lost in the woods and of course end up getting the business end of Leatherfaces chainsaw.

What qualifies this one here as classic in my opinion is that it stars Renee Zellweger and Matthew McConaughey both early in their careers when nobody knew who the hell they were! Renee is of course the hot girl who gets tortured by the Leatherface bunch. Matt plays the boss of the family and he is creepy as all get out.

There's a scene right at the beginning where Renee is separated from her friends and walking down a dark road alone when McConaughey pulls up in a tow truck and he creeps her the hell out man! I'm telling you this scene is seriously the best action Matt has ever done! From there on out the hilarity and carnage never stop!

Renee is a perfect victim, pretty and blond and I swear the way she screams and cries will make you think she really thought she was gonna die! Matt's character, while not being as visually scary as Leatherface is still terrifying because of the crazed hillbilly personality he portrays. It's a bit disturbing actually and I'd love to see him in a similar role these days!

While not as out and out hellish as the original or even #2 it's still plenty bloody and funny and just plain mean! Get this for your collection today! You won't be sorry!
