Heads will roll

The title page of the DVD says "Heads Will Roll" and they really do.Within the first five minutes of the movie we have two people beheaded by the demonic headless horseman.
Depp plays Ichabod Crane very well in this film.Unlike the Icabod of the animated version,the fearful, sissy school teacher.He plays the roll of a investigative constable from New York at the turn of the 19th century. His acting skills for this film are perfect and with is "Edward Scissors Hands" comparative pale complected face. There is no doubt the casting department earned their money on this one.
The story line flows rather well up until the story starts to unfold. The story of the evil stepmother having the head of the horse man is a bit far fetched.Then again what else would you expect from Tim Burton, this guy is a genius when it comes to walking that fine line between scary and horror.
Along with a star studded cast, this film puts an eire twist to the animated version we all knew as kids.Still I found myself wrapped up in the entire Macabe like setting of this film.
This is a movie that has good action, a lot of blood(perhaps too much for young viewers), and does not require a great deal of thought. If you just want to sit down and watch a movie because there is nothing on TV, I would recommend it.
No doubt I would have not recommend spending money on it in the theater, but as far as a take home at the movie store don't miss it.
