Author's Review
I have been a big fan of Toyota for many years, so jumped at the chance to give the 2006 Camry a drive.
Initial thoughts:
My first thoughts after sitting in the Camry were about how spacious the vehicle is. There is plenty of leg room up front and in the back and the car is more than suitable to seat 4 adults for a long journey.
On the outside, the Camry has a trendy body shape, giving it a European look without the European price tag.
The boot has more than enough room for up to 3 large suitcases, as well as smaller bags.
Handling:
At the time, i was going from a 1998 Holden Commodore into the Camry, so found the handling to be remarkable. Whether you're going at low speeds around town, or high speeds on the open road, the Camry "stuck" to the road on corners, offering very little roll. The result is a total "in control" feel behind the wheel.
Acceleration and braking were both perfectly balanced and performed exceedingly well.
Interior:
Spacious! That's the first word to describe the 2006 Camry. After that however you start to look around and notice the smaller things that make Camry so great. The dashboard and sterio panel are backlit with white, which is very effective while driving at night. The sterio controls are on the steering wheel as well, meaning you don't have to reach to change songs or adjust the volume. Cup holders are standard up front, and are hidden until needed with a cover that blends into the car interior. The rear of the car however did not have cup holders.
The only downside I found was the seats were not fully adjustable, especially the lumbar section of the seat. This provided a less comfortable drive for those coming from cars with fully adjustable seats.
Value for money:
The 2006 Camry is not cheap compared to other cars made in the same year. That should not put you off however as the price is more than fitting for the quality of vehicle you would be getting. The 2006 Camry is reliable and depending on where you are, parts are very reasonably priced.
Summary:
As a used vehicle, the 2006 Camry drove and handled like a new car.
