We love it
Pros:
No static; great range; built-in answering machine; extremely easy to set up; intuitive functionality.
Cons:
None that I can see. We honestly think the phone is great!
The Bottom Line:
It's as good of a cordless phone as I have ever owned. I would definitely make the purchase again.

Author's Review
We bought the Uniden TRU 5885 prior to reading the reviews here on epinions.com, and now I'm glad we did! If we had read the reviews first, I probably would not have made the purchase. Unlike several reviewers here, we've had no problems at all with the phone, and we really love it.
Our prior cordless was also a Uniden, but a 2.4 gig model. That phone was great, but also conflicted with our wireless computer network, so we needed to either downgrade (900 meg) or upgrade (5.8 gig). I saw the Uniden 5.8 at Costco for what seemed like a decent price, and snatched it up, thinking "I'll just go home and check epinions.com, and if it gets a bad rating I'll take it back."
Needless to say, after reading the reviews here, I was nearly ready to return the phone unopened. However, my husband talked me into at least trying it out. So we opened the package, saving all the packing materials for what I felt would be an almost-certain return.
Well, I'm certainly glad that we at least tried it out, because the phone has been great so far! I love the style, and the feel of it in my hand (nice and heavy). We've had no problems at all with any of the functionality. The answering systems works great, and has plenty of memory for our requirements.
As stated by several other reviewers, you cannot do a 3 way call between the two handsets and another party. However, what I haven't seen mentioned is that you *can* have a 3 way call between one handset, the base (speakerphone mode, obviously) and another party. I don't anticipate needing to have 3 way calls very frequently, so this is fine for our needs.
The best thing is that the frequency doesn't step on our wireless computer network! :-) Setting it up was an absolute breeze. There is a quick start guide in the manual, and the manual itself is laid out very well and is very readable.
Bottom line: we like the phone. I felt morally obligated to express my opinion here, since this model seems to have gotten so many less-than-glowing reviews.
