Answering Machine Fix from AT&T

AT&T has provided a fix for the problem with the answering machine problem of prompting callers for a code and stopping message recording:

> Have handset(s) linked to the base unit (registered).
> On the base unit, press and release the intercom button.
> On the base keypad press ##7392#
> Scroll down menu and select EE memory.
> Press "set".
> On the base keypad press 07*52.
> Press OK.
> On the base keypad press 10 (1, then zero).
> Press "save".
> Unplug the base power cord.
> Plug back in power cord after 15 seconds.

It worked for me! I had 2 people who's calls are always cut off call and leave messages to test and all is well.

Not perfect, but generally functions well and has a number of convenient features. Prior to getting the above fix from AT&T I searched for a comparable system (not very many choices out there) and auditioned a Panasonic KX-TG6502. The Panny is a nice system with one huge shortcoming: It does not display caller ID info when playing back messages from the base- only when playing back from a handset.
